I had a second-year inspection.
Inspection with CT and endoscope. No problem in endoscope viewpoint.

2002/01/30
Formal announcement including the result of CT from Dr. Ohtsu.
No problem! The second-year inspection was passed safely.
Got 90% probability of survival.
For the ordinary cancer of Stage I, 90% probability of survival is given from the beginning.
However, I am glad to arrived at 90% probability of survival after 2 years, since I caught esophagus cancer. This is fearful cancer.
I greeted the new year in lunar-New-Year mode(!?) as chief sake brewers do.
I do not feel like new year until an inspection result comes out.
Now, I got half a year longer life.
Sake(Japanese rice wine) nouveau was delivered with sufficient timing.
Mr. A is a chief sake brewer. He was the former computer SE.
He has won the victory in the sake-tasting contest.
The sake he makes is BIJOUBU! I taste sake with my non-surgically-operated throat.
Appreciated.

Since there is much brewing alcohol in cheap sake, I feel stingingly.
A master of a tavern said such sake is bad for throat.

3 men of former esophagus cancer brothers-Mr .Y, Mr. M and me- had a New Year's party.
One member increased since last year.
even parents can never share the feeling of those who has pronounced as cancer? Strong brotherhood consciousness.

I hear that the east hospital type medical treatment method started in some other cancer centers as a clinical test.

Anyway, the radio/chemotherapy has accumulated performance step by step.
The day when this is recognized as a standard therapy has drawn near.
Two years ago it was like "thread of a spider".
The number of accesses of "escape from a cancer ward" broke through 200,000 at the end of 2001! I was surprised at the number of accesses which exceeded my anticipation.

Radiotherapy can never be use for the same part!

A neglectful attitude.
Furthermore, in fact there are most cases of abandonment for the reason that the neighboring hospital is easy to visit, etc.
Even the patient himself, his family and his doctor think that his death is unavoidable, since it was cancer.

My wife, my daughter and my mother visited me only once during my hospitalization in NCC Hospital East.
I fought in order to be alive.
In case of bedding to be die, everyone wants a visit every day.
But this is not such a case.
If some visitors come to cause consumption of physical strength or infection of cold, the schedule of therapy may be postponed. It is disadvantageous for the patient.
In short, the posture over fighting is important.
You are not going to play to Disneyland. "I won't go to your hospital since I think of you" - what farsighted words!

Again I write notes for therapy.
Save your physical energy! Eat, sleep, urinate when you want. Raise your room temperature. drink as much green tea as possible!
Be thoroughly egoist. Keep your own pace. Keep your physical energy. top priority is given to preservation of medical treatment schedule.

Luckily I am living safely after leaving hospital.
I have nothing particular to report, but feel hesitation from my friends to say hello to me.

I put my top priority in spending time with my daughter. I think such affairs are uninteresting to someone in a hurry. Shall I upload a new highly-egoistic web site?

To tell the truth, I spent every previous day of my half-year inspection for going out with my daughter.
Most numerous question is "Isn't the radio-chemotherapy costly?"
As for my case, the cost was about 600,000 yen at the 30-percent self coverage (except for the charge for hospital room not covered by a health insurance plan).
They were told by their surgical doctor"you will be able to leave hospital in a month if you undergo an operation, but radio-chemotherapy will take much longer."
That's right when QOL is not taken into consideration.
Life and money are both important.

Railroad accident, today as any day!?
During hospitalization I saw many people throw a lot of money into trickery medicine in order to save their lives regardless whatever method they use.
80 people commit suicide every day. It counts 30,000 per year.
It means less people die in traffic accident.
They want to receive a prolongation-of-life more costly above their daily allowance! It is inconsistent, isn't it?

Play while you are healthy.
If nicotine gum uses regularly, it will induce esophagus cancer! It is awful, isn't it?
I tried use ZYBAN of Glaxo, but don't know its effect.
" Since you were diagnosed as cancer but never stop smoking, I am sure you will never stop smoking throughout life" said a doctor. Strangely it is convincible.
A man who was born fool will never be cured.

I want to die comfortably rather than living painful.
I heard that Mr. Shigeru Itose is the senior of Mr. Y when he used to be a financial worker.
He is impressive to me since he is nearly the same age and his was cancer treatment days overlap mine.
Probably, Mr. Itose had more capacity of information gathering than me.
I got to know, from Ms. Miri Yu's novel "life," that Dr. Ohtsu is a leading anti-cancer agent user in this country.
Why didn't Mr. Itose nor Ms. Yu's husband call on Dr. Ohtsu from the beginning?
Surgical operation is the way of breaking a next door in order to prevent to spread a fire in samurai age.

There is a limit to fight against the cancer with a scalpel!
Recently, Gene Therapy for Esophageal Cancer started in Chiba University.
