22 January 2004: CT and endoscopy inspection.
How many times have I had endoscopy tube inserted into my throat? It is painful every time.
I got to know by a e-mail from a patient in Hawaii that they receive general anesthesia at tube insertion!
I was shocked to hear that.

This day I asked to the doctor to let me have stronger anesthetic drug before endoscopy. He answered "Stronger drug may bring respiratory stop." "I don't mind unless it is painful." I said. Injection on my arm. Doctor:"How is it?" I:"It doesn't work at all." "Then, quantity of the drug increases." Then, I became half-conscious.

When endoscopy ended, the doctor said "Your esophagus looks beautiful in a viewpoint of endoscopy." I walked to return to the next room and lay down on a bed. I used to spend time to read magagines, but this day I was deeply sleeping for two hours.

When I woke up, a nurse said "Never drive. Stay in the hospital for two more hours." I decided to take my wife to drive home next time.

2 February 2004: Announcement of inspection result - No abnormality was found. I look back these four years. The fact that I have been alive more than ever is rogress of medicine and my fate. Total recovery of disease is going to appear...

The ace of Japanese surgeons of esophagus left his private university hospital. Even now in 2004, it is standard to undergo surgical operation for esophagus cancer.

It is not good to hear the stories on the theme of cancer, especially the story in which someone is defeated by cancer!?

But I watched anew TV drama "Shiroi Kyoto (The Ivory Tower) " starring Jiro Tamiya. Youko Shimada of the role of a daughter --How young she was!

It is fun to watch to compare "Shiroi Kyoto" under broadcasting. But Jiro Tamiya is superior when playing nihil and bad fellow! If only Dr. Zaizen played by Toshiaki Karasawais had been an authority of pancreas cancer...

A Huge White Tower even now is existing !

Four years ago when I was hospitalized, National Cancer Center(NCC) Hospital East had three-year experience of chemoradiotherapy. It means they have seven-year experience at this moment.

Many hospitals began to try the combined therapy of radiation and an antineoplastic drug, like the bamboo shoot after rain. But their regimens of chemoradiotherapy differ one by one.

One of doctors gave me a mail. It said "Dr. Ohtsu's resgimen has, in fact, the most cases experienced, was pubulished in the highest-level magazine and is regarded as the most dezired resume for many hospitals, but it does not mean the best treatment."

Another doctor said "Chemoradiotherapy is developing day by day, therefore a famous and experienced doctor is a better choice."

I heard that a doctor of some hospital proposed to send someone to NCC Hospital East to study, but his senior doctors judged needless.

An e-mail from a patient came to me which described he had been diagnosed to be stage VI in an old imperial university hospital, irrespective of that, he was recommended to undergo surgical operation.

What is happening?

Medical gap is actually exsisting!

Asahi Com. News writes "Cancer Radiotherapy: Probability of survival differs tree times by medical equipments: Research Institute of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare"

I think sampling is mere sampling. Actual condition is worse! However, newspaper article of what we have experienced means a lot, because Japanese people tend to easily believe paper.

I wrote, "Who treats other one's life as same way as he treats his own life?" in previous page of this site. Eventhough I gave a telephone call a patient, who give me an email, and explain his circumstances, he could not take an action as advised. I will never take care of him any more.

I am conscious that I am writing arrogant matter.

情に棹させば流される Last four years, I kept questioning and answering myself whether a man, who does not understand sympathy, has a capacity for living. "Such a man made me erase my email address from my site.

.Once I uploaded bulletin board in my site, but it was just waste of time. Editors of other websites also said they closed bulletin boards. Most of cancer patients themselves cannot operate internet. Almost their family access me. Even when I contacted to their family, they do not understand everything about patients who who were diagnosed as cancer. Information was one-way track. I rarely received feedback.
