Professor Okawa said, "I think you have a chances to win. Some antineoplastic drugs will be used together with radiation, but I advise that you seldom think too much about the side effects of it." I said, "I would appreciate your favor". I handed him the letter of introduction and data carried out from National Cancer Center(NCC) Hospital Tokyo and asked to take necessory procedure of the waiting for a bed. December 6, my stomachache had not stop since last night, I went to Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital. I was so unlucky that it was the anniversary day of the hospital. It was closed. I was told to wait since they would call a doctor of Radiation Department. I had a stomachache. Didn't they have to call a doctor from Internal Medicine or Surgery? "They respect the position and dignity of a doctor from Radiation Department who takes charge of that patient. This is, in short, the same as Japanese mafia world: Don't dabble in my patient."p103* It is troublesome. Dr. Seki from Radiation Department, who was in duty of the day, came soon. She talked with a doctor from another department and took roentgenography ultrasonic of my stomach. There was no problem. They gave me the medicine of an anodyne. 7 December: My stomachache softened, but did not disappear. I drove by myself to Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital. I met for the first time Assistant Professor Kumiko Karasawa for medical examination. She gave me an anodyne injection and nutrition drink. On my way home my cellular phone rang. My hospitalization day was noticed. 8 December: My hospitalization day. I met all the staff in the afternoon. They said full scale treatment was going to begin tomorrow. An email from Dr. S. "I had no oppertunity to feel greatful for being healthy nor to appreciate health hunger. Now you leave your fate to heavens, but fight against your disease courageously." 9 December: No treatment at all. Only inspection was carried out. 10 December: Permitted to staying-out, I went home at 1:00pm. 12 December: I met my old friend from Osaka and spent few hours at Soba restaurant, but had to go back to hospital. 13 December: Eeating and sleeping was repeated. I asked Dr. Madoka Isobe, who was taking charge of me, "When I receive medical treatment?" She answered "You are waiting for your turn to come." 14 December: One week had passed since my hospitalization. No treatment. 15 December: 2:00pm I was suddenly told to come by Professor Ohkawa. He said "I leave this hospital today, but do not worry. I have alredy made your protocoal( medical treatment plan.) I felt relieved because I was so suddenly called that I had imagined I would have told my cancer stage was higher. 4:00pm I had my last inspection to determine my radiation irradiation position which was beginning tomorrow. I lay down on a flat bed, drank barium. Roentgenography was started. They made me to drink barium again and again. Never okeyed. I gradually became anxious. I asked "Do I keep drinking?" Dr. Isobe answered "To tell the truth, roentgenography is unsuccessful. This roentgenography machine does not work. Let's do it again on another building." I asked "How many more days do I have to wait? One more week?" She answered "Shorter or longer than that. I do not know." The films I received from National Cancer Center Tokyo was clear and fine. What is different? Machine or technique? I said "I lost one of my valuable week. Do you make me wait for one more week? Let's quit. It's inauspicious." I left the room and telephoned Dr. S. to say "Time is over. I leave hospital. " He said "You'll lose your time for another set of inspection! Wait for one night!!" It is acceptable even if time is out after I find a hospital which can be convinced. Assistant Professor Karasawa appeared and said "I am rearranging your roentgenography schedule. I am out of town but please wait." I said "I cannot wait for one more week. " She exclaimed suprisingly, "Who told you go wait for one more week?" "Dr. Isobe," I replied. She said "Radiation is possible with this film, " showing me uncontrast film, "Radiation 30 milimeter wider will never miss the target. We wanted to have roentgenography to be more scrupulous." What was my last 7 days? They could not predict the result of roentgenography? Moreover they forgot to give me purgative medicine after barium. I demanded them. Impatience, anger, disappointment - complicated thoughts filled in my mind. I lighted a cigarette although I had stopped smoking. I drove out the idea of self-abandonment. Will alcholol activate my brain? I didn't know why, but calm and self-possessed judgement came up in my mind. Any choice? Need to change the doctor in charge of me? Who? Dr. Seki? Her career? Or need to change the hospital? Where? My brain began to work overclockingly. Everyone in the smoking room looked perplexed with my smoking. I myself was perplexed. I talked them about my circumstances. One of them said he had an idea. "Last summer I read an article in the magagine FRIDAY. That's it!" Article:Astonishing! An Elite Professor,An authority of Cancer Treatment from Distinguished Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital is suspicious about Big-ticket rebate for purchase of medical equipments and a High-class Ginza woman. In case such circumstance of him is true, I understand it is impossible for him to care about patients. An assistant professor also became hollow when a professor became hollow. Their fates are bounded together. My conclusion was to escape from this hospital! I returned to my bedroom and reread the data printed out from internet. It was prohibited to take cellular phones or personal computers into this hospital, therefore I brought data of monochrome print. Which hospital should I go to? I felt reproachful when I was looking at the pages from Radiotherapy Treatment Group of NCC Hospital Tokyo which boasts its state-of-the-art equipments. I was absorbed! It was my misapprehension! The paper showed its source in small font - NCC Hospital EAST - not Tokyo. That is, the pages of both hospitals were mixed up. It is standard tactics to build up a website with the unified image. Same color and same logo would make readers hallucinated that those hospitals are the same, unless they read from top to order. I felt my strain loosened. Went to bed at 3:00am.
