Year After
November 29, 2000
Ate Japanese pot-au-feu in the Ginza with the younger generation of
esophagus cancer who got to know me through my web site. Such a thing
was
unanticipatable one year ago. Our association began in spring when
he gave me an e-mail.
He was diagnosed as esophagus cancer, search Internet
and found "Escape
from Cancer Ward." He followed my way of Keio University Hospital
and National Cancer Center Tokyo ,where he was pronounced of an operation
required.
However, he did not undergo an operation, either!
At the beginning we exchanged e-mails.
One day I noticed and wrote, "You have no time to spend playing
e-mails. Telephone me!"
My telephone rang immediately and I talked him including advises not
written in my web site.
There are impressive words from him.
"
I will not trust any other web sites of famous people but yours.
Mr. Omino, you experienced same illness and published the web site with
your real name.
That's because I inclined to believe this web site."
He thinks as I did when I was in such a situation.
As for me, there was hesitation to an anti-cancer agent until I met
the comrade who were receiving the same therapy.
What a fast year it was?
This day of last year I went to the radiology division of a National
Cancer Center Hospital Tokyo and was recommended an operation.
Those days, I was recommended an operation by everyone - doctors, relatives,
friends and comrades. Decisively, however, I refused.
I look back this past year and I am content with my choice!
I greatly appreciate my medical staff as well as my fate.
My weight and bodily shape are same as before.
Never feel of sequela.
Nothing has changed.
The only change appeared in emotion.
Feel high strain when a quarter-year inspection day draws near. It
rises like a roller coaster and falls by judgment that I have no
problem.
Change appeared in the taste at the beginning of leaving hospital.
I, who had never licked honey conventionally, often bought honey
to put into tea.
I guess my body requested sweet thing because sugar ingestion from
alcohol probably was not completed.
Alcohol and tobacco were reduced below in half after the diagnosis.
Once I added a message board on my web site, but only temporarily.
There is another active Mailing
List for cancer patients.
Moreover, it is hard for me to read the word 'cancer' over and over in
a message board every day. I am a human.
Furthermore, there were mountains of absurdity, evil spirits, promotion,
etc. That's why I withdraw my message board.
If a patient gives an e-mail directly to me, I will reply to advise whatever
I know, but I believe that the last determination is left to the patient
itself.
